For our final blog, I would like for you to comment on what you think you'll take away from theater class. We've been on quite a journey this semester; you've started with a crazy class, and now you've been through a study of all the areas of theater as well as how theater has fit into history. With all of that, what skills or or ideas do you think will help you the most in your life?
I hope you know how much I have enjoyed our time together. Be sure to stop by and say hello from time to time!

I have learned a lot from theater class. I have learned more than just skills specificaly about theater. I'm really glad that I had this class at the bigining of the school year. Being new to Minnehaha I was a little nervous especially in theater class where we had to do such weird things! I was able to discover things about myself and gain self cofidence that has helped me through the rest of the year as well. The biggest thing I have learned is that it's okay to het up and do something you don't want to even when it's going against all you gut feelings!!!!!!

One thing that you tell us to do to become more focused is to lie on the floor and breathe in and out so we relax our muscles and are able to clear our minds. This exercise really helps me accomplish my school work when I feel overwhelmed. When I feel like giving up, I just lie on my back and take two minutes to clear my mind so I can think straight and focus so I can get my work done as fast as possible.
Also when I am at circus practice and I get really tired, I now am able to breather deeper so I no longer get out of breath and tire as easily. You also taught us to take a deep breath before we start acting and I don’t know if it is supposed to calm us down or not but it helps me calm down and this calming down trick helps me a lot when I am scared to try a trick at circus.
The thing that I think will come in most handy is the experience of learning how to control our emotions and actions. This will be very useful when I am speaking in front of people or am just putting my ideas out there. Because of the experience I have gotten in theater class, I believe I won’t seem as nervous when I speak in front of others or even around other people that I don’t know that well.

I believe that theater class has helped me gain more confidence for the real world. Going out and just doing something I really want to do may not be as hard. The breathing exercises really helped to relax and calm down. The games helped to make you look like a fool...so it helps with not caring about what others think I guess. Learning how to be a director really made me understand new things that will help along the way of being a film director. Controling me actions and emotions has also been helped from class. The activities and things we did really opened me up...in some way.

I've learned quite a bit this semester. From the history of theater to acting. There has been a lot of information and even life lessons from this class. I think that the main thing i will take from this class is always just being myself. There were times in my past where if i was meeting somone new i'd be shy or somthing but now i think i'll just be who i am. Also i think that i won't be as nervous infront of a crowd of people. This class has taught me to be much more comfortable infront of a bunch of people. At the beggining of this class i hated being forced to talk or act infront of a bunch of people i hardly knew but now i'm at the point where i can not only do it but i don't realy even mind. I guess i came into theater class not realy knowing what to think but now i know this class has a lot of lessons to offer.
It has really been great being in theater. We have had such a fun class and done such funny things. I feel that I have taken away a lot. When I was first in this class and you said we would have to do a monolog in front of the class I thought, I hope she changes her mind, but now that I have done a number of monologs they are fun. I am glad that I gotten over that “fear”, because now if I am ever in a place again, which I am sure I will, when I am going to go and present a monolog in front of people it won’t bad, and I can think back to theater class and it will be fun. I will never forget this class

I have learned alot from this theater class. I have learned how to overcome my fears. For example performing in front of people is something that I reallly dont like to do that much. However, you have showed me in your theater class how to acknowledge your fear and overcome it. Now I am more comfortable speaking in front of people.

Theater is something that one can take with them anywhere. Every moment you are on the broad expanse of the stage, whether alone, in the presence of peers, or in front of the audience, is a moment to be remembered and felt. The stage is not only a blank canvas; it makes you one as well. Through experiences on the stage, you learn who you are, and how to turn yourself into a true individual. Through classes like these, one grows to respect all who are involved in any such work, as the phrase "United we stand, divided we fall" has a truth that applies to every aspect of what goes on behind the curtain. How to manage stress, joy, and heartache, these are learned in time experiences in the theater.
Yes, theater is an experience that develops the mind, the body, and the spirit. Both hard work, and enjoyable, it is an experience that I hope to absorb and repeat.
This class has really helped me in many ways. Before this class, i never like drama/theater and never even consider going up on stage. When I joined this class, i was forced to go on stage and perform sometimes the craziest things. This class had made me alot more confident in my self.I learned that it is okay to go up on stage and put everything out there, and not care what the auduince will say. I was so worried on other peoples opinions that I forgot to consentrate on myslef. I think this class has helped all of us in some way or another. So thnak you Ms. Corts, you are a great teacher, who can even teacher someone to build confiednece, and that is incredible.

To be honest, I have not learned anything fact-wise that will help me in life. However, I have learned some valuable concepts and nurtured some values that have been wanting to surface from the dark abyss of my sub-conscience. I have learned to release inhibitions and be myself. A neat concept I learned is that if I have to act like someone else with my friends then they are not real friends. Its been a great class. I am typing this in public though so I better stop now before I begin to weep.
